Subject: [The Daily DX] Correction
I just got a phone call from W3LPL that I listed the wrong call for Wade. His call is W0EJ not W0SR. Sorry about that Jim! Sending this from my cell phone.
73 Bernie, W3UR
W0EJ (ex K0ZTV, WA6TXE), Robert W. Walstrom, became a Silent Key on Thursday August 31, 2006. "He passed away" yesterday morning "at St. Luke's from complications of a long term illness", said long time friend and co-worker W0SR, Jim Spencer. Wade was the ARRL's Midwest Division Director. He was a member of the Eastern Iowa DX Association, QCWA and AMSAT. Wade grew up in South Dakota. He got his PHD in Electrical Engineering and began working for Rockwell Collins in the early 70s. He was a loyal employee at Collins until his retirement in January of this year. Wade was a serious DXer and Contester. W0EJ had 332/344 DXCC (current/total) countries confirmed and 1592 for the DXCC Challenge at the DXCC Desk. Wade is survived by his XYL Solveig and sons Robert and KC0LGE, Steve. On a personal note I met Wade for the first time this year at the Dayton Hamvention. We had a nice eyeball QSO. He did mention his being ill at that time but did not go into any details. Wade was a strong!
DX and Contesting advocate at the ARRL. RIP W0EJ. SK
