    Fellow Hams,

Once again the Bellevue Amateur Radio Club will be sponsoring the communications support for the Multiple Sclerosis bike rides. I ask that you disseminate the following information among your club members and other local area amateurs so that we may have a pool of volunteers to assist with the communications for these public service events.
You need not be a member of any club to volunteer your time and equipment.

The MS-50 Celebrate Cycling will be on Sunday, May 5th, and the MS-150 Bike Tour will be on Saturday and Sunday, June 29th and 30th. This is the weekend after Field Day.

The MS-50 will follow a route from Waterloo to Fremont and back once again this year.

The MS-150 will start in Wahoo, and go to Seward to overnight. They will return to Wahoo on Sunday.
Sunday is going to be a really big day with cyclists leaving in two different directions and being scattered
over a wide area. It will prove interesting to keep track of them all.

You can volunteer your time and equipment for an entire event, one day, or even just for a few hours. We can find a place for you to work! Those of you who have helped in past years know how rewarding and how much fun it is to support the MS Society and the bicyclists. They depend upon us heavily for the safety, health, and welfare of all involved in the events.

Stations with APRS capability are encouraged to bring along all the equipment and use it! We can put
trackers with the last riders and various other points to help facilitate the tracking of our charges.

Non-amateurs with EMT training are also encouraged to volunteer as we can pair them with radio operators
to patrol the route to keep an eye on everyone.

If you would like to volunteer, or want more information, you may contact me in one of the following ways:
            E-Mail: ka0o@arrl.net
            Phone: (402)-291-1968
You may also contact George Bellairs if you can't reach me.
            E-Mail: kb0zzt@arrl.net
            Phone: (402)-291-0960
    Or, Wayne Jorns.
            E-Mail: ...@...
            Phone: (402)292-1727

I would prefer to use E-mail if at all possible since I work nights, and it makes it a lot easier to keep everyone informed on our status. I realize that not everyone has this capability so if we have to do it the old fashioned way, then so be it! You might also use a friend who has e-mail as a relay.

This is a great chance for new hams to get involved in public service events. No experience is required, and this gives you hands on training in a practical and fun setting. And as for us old-timers, it gives us the chance to continue the tradition of helping others. So mark your calendars now and spread the word around to your fellow hams and club members!
