Well, it was sort of a long weekend. I think K0AIR was a hit. I had several
pile ups where it was next to impossible to pick out a call. I haven't
taken out any duplicates yet (there were maybe two or three!) but QSO count
on the laptop when time ran out was 312 QSO's. There will be lots of QSL
coming to the PO box.
Recap - started at noon local, after checking the bands, settled on 20 as
signals were best there. Around 9:00 to 9:30 p.m. local 20 died and although
there seemed to be some activity on both 40 and 80 it was mostly the
standard old dudes, chatting about the weather. I decided to call it a night
and went home to a soft, familiar bed. Got back to the EOC around 8:00 a.m.
and back on 20. Ran QSO's until deadline then made a couple more contacts
with folks who wanted the QSL. Cleaned everything up and then went home and
worked on the garden.
I'm ready to do it again next year but although it was great fun, I would
rather work out a schedule and share the job better next time. If we plan
ahead better next year it should work out.
I will do a log dump off the laptop and fill out the paperwork and get our
log off to the Nebraska QSO folks and see how we did. I have a feeling we
are in the running for a first place..
Later all - Dar WB5HZH/ K0AIR.......
