I spoke with their Building Engineer, Steve Prall.
They will be expecting us at 8:30 AM on Saturday morning to begin setup.
The Museum will open at 9 AM, but we will probably take about two hours
to set everything up. We are well-manned for Sunday, but could use a
few more people on Saturday. We certainly won't pressure anyone to
operate, or do any kind of heavy-lifting if they feel they aren't up to
it. We can put you to work with light lifting (radios, cables, etc.),
logging/duplicate checking, or greeting visitors. We can also use a
dedicated VHF/UHF operator just to manage local contacts and talk-in.
Talk-in will be on at least 147.48 simplex, and possibly the 2 national
simplex calling frequencies 146.52 and 446.00. We will have operators
at the Museum from 9 to 5 PM Saturday and Sunday. The Museum is in
Ashland, right off of Exit 426 on I-80.
Please park in the overflow lot on the left side of the Museum. This is
the gravel lot near Fire Exit #31. We will have that door open for
running feedlines to the antennas, which will be set up on the grass
between the lot and the building. Our updated access roster is as
follows:
K3FU
NS0N
KA0AIR
N0TJQ
KC0BDX
AA0ZP
KE6DZD
KC0HYF
N5SEZ
KC0DLB
KC0HYF
(the roster will, of course, have their real names on it)
Note that not everyone will be there the whole time, so there may still
be some schedule holes, or at least thin manning, at times over the
weekend. You can be added to the roster at any time, just let me know
via E-mail, or call us on the talk-in frequency.
Operators are encouraged to read the rules, and list of suggested HF
operating frequencies, available from:
http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/k5xs/2000_announcement.htm
I will have printed copies of the rules available at the Museum on
Saturday and Sunday.
Hope to see everyone there!
73, Paul W. Schleck, K3FU
