My plans for SACMARC next year

(I suppose this constitutes a campaign statement of sorts. If others
have campaign statements, they are welcome to pass them along to the
mailing list).

Considerable professional obligations last year have made me almost an
absentee leader. The reassignment of President Clay Mayrose has also
left us one officer short. This year we did manage to incorporate and
operate at the SAC Museum, but little else. Also, I wasn't able to
participate in the production of our club newsletter as much as I would
have liked (with quarterly issues either missing or late). I have also
been absent from most of the other local club meetings and activities.

Professional obligations are not likely to abate, and may actually
increase this next year. Therefore, if elected (and I'd be happy to
serve either as President or VP), my participation will probably
continue to be minimal, likely a SAC Museum operation, and not much more
than meeting quarterly to have coffee and chat. Frank Taylor, AA0ZP,
has offered to put one or the other club calls on the air for the
Worked-All-States nets on HF on patriotic holidays such as Memorial and
Veterans days, so that will help keep us active and visible on the air.

I encourage someone to consider running to fill the second senior office
(President or VP). That person should probably run with the intention
of also doing their choice of one of the following (with me likely doing
another one):

- SAC Museum operation committee (correspondence, recruiting, publicity,
setup and teardown, overall planning and management, etc.)
- Contributing Editor (with Mark Fitzgerald, KC0ASN, as Chief Editor)
  for the club newsletter.
- Pursuing another independent project that the SACMARC has not done
before (providing most of the leadership and management)

That person should also consider running for either the same, or a
different, office in SACMARC the following year (President and Vice
President are limited to two consecutive terms by our By-Laws).

Leadership experience is not necessary, but someone who is disciplined,
self-starting, and with good time-management skills (such that the other
officers can rely on him or her to do the job without a lot of
supervision, or even having to do the job themselves) would be required.
Owning a computer, and having regular access to E-mail, would also be
desired. Another nice-to-have would be either currently holding, or
sincerely interested in obtaining during their term, a General-class
operating license or higher (to serve as control operator at SACMARC
operating events).

Hope to see everyone at the Old Country Buffet on Tuesday, December 16th
at 6PM.
