I just got off the phone with SAC Museum Director Wayne Schmidt. I was
referred to him by Denny Hahn and Marge Raschid (she schedules bookings
of the Museum for special events). Mr. Schmidt and Ms. Raschid checked
the calendar and decided that they were pretty well booked up with two
other events and could not accommodate us on September 19th and 20th,
either in their special event rooms, or elsewhere in the Museum. They
did express interest in hosting this annual event next year with a bit
more lead-time.

Looks like we got blindsided by the combination of staff turnover (loss
of contact continuity), my (last-minute) business travel and vacation
this summer (couldn't revisit the issue until just recently), and just
the popularity of the Museum in general as a venue for special events.
I'd like to thank Robb Hoover for his help in pursuing Museum contacts,
and referring me to those at the Museum who had the decision-making
authority regarding hosting us for an event. This was in addition to
his ongoing effort organizing the "Cold War in Flames" symposium on
airborne strategic reconnaissance, which will be held at the SAC Museum
a week earlier than the AF QSO Party.

So, it looks like we'll accept Fred Groce's generous offer to operate
from his home in Council Bluffs for one of the stations (with the other
station at Elkhorn, barring any last minute snags from the base
authorities).

To date, I have not received word from any volunteer operators
interested in operating for this event, scheduled for Saturday and
Sunday, September 19th and 20th. Now that we have our locations pretty
well firmed up, I would like to hear from volunteers so that we can
proceed with further planning and setup.
