Roger Mundy, former operator at K1AIR at Otis AFB near Falmouth,
Massacusetts, and current holder of K8AIR, sent along the following news
about recovery of the K1AIR callsign:

>Also, great news. The president of the Falmouth amateur radio club has
>put in for the K1AIR call. The club will be trustee of the call.
>They held field day at the old Otis AFB, and have been invited by the
>Coast Guard to operate at the Cuttyhunk lifeboat station. It's the
>oldest lighthouse station in the US. They have also been invited back
>to operate at Otis next year. I am sending him my written memories of
>the K1AIR station along with a copy of the QSL card and pictures of the
>old radio station. Saul said it would be a good idea to create a
>certificate for worked all "AIR" calls, but that would require some
>additional thought. The idea is good though.

So it looks like another AIR call will be saved for posterity, and used
in ways that commemorate its original mission in support of military
communications.

73, Paul, K3FU
