Sac Museum Armed Forces Day Activities (fwd)

Just got this from Robb Hoover, who said I could pass it along to the
mailing list. Looks like SACMARC participation in Armed Forces Day at
the SAC Museum is a wash, for understandable reasons, but Museum
officials are very interested in doing something like this in the
future. So, let's plan on having Armed Forces Day using K0AIR in John
Sheffield's backyard, and revisit the idea of Museum operation again in
September, possibly for the USAF Anniversary QSO Party that month.

Paul,

Al Duff called me back in response to my question about you folks setting up
for Armed Forces Day. He said that Wayne Schmidt, the Director, thought that
they were already overloaded in working the many details they have to get
right for opening ceremonies and was reluctant to take on anything extra at
this time. He did, however, think that it could be a good idea for the future
when they get things running on an even keel.

I would suggest bringing up the idea again for the Fall , perhaps in
conjunction with our Cold War in Flames:The Early Days of Airborne
Reconnaissance seminar on Saturday, Sept 12th , which is being held at the
Museum. If you would like, we could discuss the idea again in June and check
back with Al. Al is a retired SAC Colonel and, as near as I can figure out,
the Director of Operations for the Museum. He is a good contact and will give
us a straight answer.
