As many of you already know from Carl's E-mail, and the article in the
BARC Spark Gap, Peggy Mullaly-Quijas, N0UEA, has accepted a position as
Library Director at UMKC in Kansas City. This is a significant
promotion for her, and an outstanding professional opportunity. I, and
the other officers in the SACMARC, wish her all the professional success
in the world in this new position.
This does lead to two items of club business. One is club bank account
records, the other is the nomination of a new Treasurer. Someone may
wish to correct me on this point, but I believe that when an office is
vacated before its term is up, the Executive Board nominates a new
candidate, and the membership as a whole votes to accept/reject the
candidate.
I'd like to arrange an Executive Board meeting as soon as practically
possible, such that Peggy is still in town. I'd also like to solicit
any volunteers for Treasurer. The Treasurer duties within the SACMARC
are very light, and consist of managing a checking account of about $200
with relatively few transactions, and attending quarterly meetings to
give financial reports. I and the other officers would be more than
happy to work with any sincerely interested candidate, regardless of
previous financial experience.
Let me propose a date of Tuesday, February 10th (Wednesday won't work
for me next week). I'd like the officers (and any other interested
attendees including members and possible nominees) to let me know if
this date will work. Sid, could you see if we could get the Bank of
Bellevue room on such short notice? If not, I'm sure we could find a
quiet table at Wendy's or similar.
73, Paul, K3FU
SACMARC President
