There's some good new, and there's some bad news.
The good news is:
The current Museum Curator, Sarah McFarland, called me Thursday morning.
She read our more detailed "pre-proposal" and thinks that our exhibit
idea is a wonderful possibility and wants to discuss it further with us.
The bad news is:
As you've probably figured out by the above statement, the previous
Curator/Registrar, Fred Poyner, no longer works at the SAC Museum.
Furthermore, it seems that only Fred was aware (at least with regard to
specifics) of our proposed project and our tentative exhibit dates in
the visiting gallery at the new facility.
This implies that we may have to start again with regard to briefing
Museum officials about our idea. However, considering that our plans
were still very tentative, and that we were going to try to push the
date back anyway, this setback may be only slight. I was also told that
the new Museum's official opening date has been pushed back to May,
1998.
I'll get back with Sarah, and see what she wants to discuss. If there
is a face-to-face meeting, I'd like to see if one or more of our history
committee members (Steve, Fred, etc.) could join me.
