Coordination Package Reached Gen. Habiger

In all of the rush to get organized for the possible B-29 event, I
forgot to pass along word last week that the coordination package that
Steve Hunt sent up the chain of command over at USSTRATCOM (informing
the CINCSTRAT of our activities, and recovery of historic callsigns) had
finally reached General Habiger.

Steve returned the package to me, which had on the top of it, in large
handwriting:

Great Idea!
Press.

H.

Great men are usually of few words, so we'll take this one as a great
compliment. I'll make copies and pass it along to our club officers and
our contacts with the SAC organizations such as the museum (it was
pointed out the tremendous "door opening" potential such a signed
compliment from General Habiger could be, and I think we should take
advantage of that within bounds of reasonable good taste).

Much credit for suggesting and implementing the idea goes to Steve Hunt,
who had staff contacts, knew Dr. Keene (the author of the QST article
about SAC amateur radio history), and was able to ride this one all the
way to the top. Feedback from many staff members who reviewed it was
something along the lines of, "Gee, this package is more polished than
some of the official packages we get."

Thanks Steve!
