Opportunities for SACMARC

Paul,

Over last two days, have received calls from Brig Gen Reg Urschler and Robb
Hoover on following subjects:

1. During the period 24 - 27 Jun 97, the world's only flyable B-29 will be
at Eppley Airfield prior to participation in Offutt Open House on the 28th
and 29th.. Gen Urschler advises that hams have previously operated a ham
station from a booth set up in or near the B-29 (and possibly from on board
while aloft) with great success. Hoover and Urschler believe this is great
opportunity for SACMARC, with potentially good press coverage for both us and
the B-29 crowd..

This sounds exactly like why we formed the club. But, as you know, I am in
the process of having a house re-modeled, and will be preparing for MS-150
Bike Ride during that period. I will be happy to supply some equipment and
some operating time. I can also prepare media notices in an attempt to get
coverage. But, I cannot take this on as project leader. Can you take this
on?

Contacts for B-29 are:

      Bob and Mildred Freeman
      Sedan, KS
      (316) 725-3234

Mention Brig Gen Reg Urschler - leave message if no answer as they travel
with B-29. Also, keep Urschler posted (402-733-3531) on decision and
progress (or keep me posted and I'll keep him posted).

2. There is a lady, Ms. Jean Brown, whose late husband was a collector or
radio and aircraft "stuff." A lot of this stuff (there are some old
receivers and other miscellaneous parts) remains in the garage, and she is
preparing to move and would like to get rid of it. Sid and I looked at the
stuff a year or so ago - and offered to arrange a garage sale at her house -
never heard back from her. The market for this stuff may be limited;
however, in light of the creation of SACMARC, some of it might be suitable
for a display at the museum. I told Gen Urschler that if Ms. Brown justed
wanted us to clean out the garage (i.e., if she did not expect any cash) we
might be able to arrange something for her. What are your thoughts?

3. Robb Hoover also noted that a local resident was a long time employee
and/or consultant for Rockwell-Collins and may provide a contact to bring
that company into the loop on what SACMARC is about. The name: Judd Grace.

We should probably get together real soon to further discuss the above. My
phone number is 597-2476.

73 de John.
